Dr. Krassimir Koynov, MD

Dr. Krassimir Koynov is a medical oncologist with over 40 years of experience in the field of medical oncology in Bulgaria. After graduating from the Medical Academy in Sofia, he specialized in internal medicine and obtained the relevant qualification, followed by a specialization in oncology. He worked for nearly 30 years at the University Hospital “Tsaritsa Yoanna – ISUL” as a research associate, holding various positions up to the head of the Medical Oncology Clinic. For the past 13 years, he has been the head of the Medical Oncology Department at Serdika Hospital.

Over the last 25 years, thanks to his extensive clinical and scientific experience, Dr. Koynov has established himself as one of the leading experts in his field in Bulgaria. He has participated in numerous scientific meetings, symposia, conferences, congresses, and advisory boards both domestically and internationally. He has been involved in expert boards for the development of national medical standards, advisory councils for pharmaceutical companies, and multidisciplinary oncology committees in numerous healthcare institutions in Sofia. His interests are centered on the treatment of all solid malignant tumors, with a focus on the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer, breast cancer, and urogenital and gastrointestinal malignancies. Dr. Koynov is well-versed in the latest advancements and modern medical oncology practices, particularly in the application of targeted therapy and immunotherapy.

Dr. Koynov is a pioneer in the field of clinical trials in Bulgaria, with over 30 years of experience and participation in more than 200 clinical trials, primarily related to testing new antitumor drugs and treatment regimens. 

Dr. Koynov’s scientific work includes the publication of over 160 scientific articles in both local and international journals. Most of these publications report the results of conducted antitumor therapies, some of which have contributed to the advancement of medical oncology.

Dr. Koynov is a member of numerous national and international oncology organizations and has been a recognized member of the largest global oncology organization, ASCO, for more than 25 years.
